When we founded Clippership in 2024, we set out to solve the clean energy problem in long-haul ocean freight. But the world today is different than the one just two years ago, and the problems are different too.
Power, water, and space to build on land are at the center of a high-stakes dilemma. Do we push through at all costs the construction of terrestrial data centers, ignoring the consequences (and the will of the people), or do we slow down construction and lose both our geopolitical edge and the potential benefits of more intelligence, sooner?
We are incredibly well positioned to tackle this issue using the technology we have spent the last two years developing. Our vessels can harvest megawatts of electrical power from the ocean using wind power coupled with hydrokinetic turbines, at capacity factors approaching 90%. Cooling is plentiful, as is space on the ocean.
We have therefore redirected our efforts into building and deploying our vessels into service transforming clean ocean energy into abundant intelligence.
The first maritime edge compute node that integrates everything we have developed to date will launch in 6 weeks, serving compute-heavy bathymetric survey, maritime ISR, and AI meteorology customers.
