Just read some Techstars news. Got me thinking. There are now four ex Techstars Managing Directors at Angel Invest. Will soon be five. In total we are now more than ten partners. Our strategy is simple: we write 100k angel checks into very good, very early startups and coach the founders in 25+ sessions over one year. For us coaching means: “Don’ tell founders what to do, just help them do it well.” More than €1BN has been raised by the founders. Almost every large Series A fund in Europe has follow-on invested. Over €50m has been co-invested by our LPs. We now have four founders who have exited and become LPs in our funds. We think there will be many more over the years. For us, that is ultimate measure of success. Strategy means adding value to customers they cannot easily get elsewhere and where you position yourself in such a way that your solution cannot easily be copied. Without founders, nobody in this industry would have anything to do. It is worth remembering that from time to time.
