Is this a red flag? Marketing candidate for a FT position was a consultant for a year, then went in-house for 9 months. Now back on the market looking for another FT, in-house role. To me, this feels very “bouncy” but curious to hear thoughts.

It is surprising to me how much I have gravitated toward doing absolutely everything in terminal. Started out with claude code in web app and just pushing updates directly to prod app. Then went to desktop app as I did more locally. Now I just live in terminal.

Will likely get flack for this, but when evaluating candidates for SEO/AEO roles, and I see that they've never posted *anything* on social, never written a blog post, never been on a podcast, never given a talk at a meetup, etc. I'm instantly less interested in interviewing them.

There's a dirty little secret behind old school link building or even "seeking inauthentic mentions" that no one is talking about... MOST OF IT GETS REMOVED. In 2024, I worked with a link building company to help me build links for a client. I just opened the old tracking spreadsheet and spot checked how many links were still alive. Just 3/20. Think about that. The content gets updated and the link is also removed a year later. There are many reasons for this. One reason is to "make room" for new links that are getting sold and placed. And sometimes, the page that hosted the link gets removed altogether. I have also noticed some websites like EngageBay have been selling links for years. This happens when content managers want to make money on the side and start selling links under the table. In any case, I think the same will happen with "brand mention" placements. You'll pay for them, a year later the page gets updated, and your brand mention gets removed.
