Feels like the race is over in 18 months or less It's so important for early startups to invest in telling their story and being as visible as possible (tweeting, cool kids customers, building in public etc) to have a chance to stay at the front of the pack

I see so many people founding because they want to be founders. Almost all lack a contrarian thesis for why the world should be different. There are about a dozen companies that matter each decade and meaningfully shape how the world works. You should generally optimize for contributing meaningfully to one of those.
